The Three T's of Stewardship: Treasure
Most people immediately would define “treasure” in terms of monetary contributions. While this is indeed critical for the successful running of any Parish, the word Treasure is used to express anything in great abundance. Collecting “stuff” while on Earth can give a person pleasure, but it is ultimately temporary. There’s no guarantee you will keep it while alive and “stuff” is not useable once you’re gone. You should start to think of “treasure” as something Christ wants us to accumulate for entrance to Heaven. Refer to the main theme of the Sermon on the Mount (MATTHEW 5:1-2). Having wealth is not a problem, until we start to prioritize it over everything else -- especially God. Study the Beatitudes (MATTHEW 5:3-12). They are a good way to find out how to accumulate heavenly treasures.
